A client approached Icon with a need for a micro-filling system capable of handling 0.2ml free-standing vials; organising them for freezing; and applying a loose cap at a rate of 600 bottles per hour.
The process also required recapping to full specifications after freezing. The client’s primary requirements were accuracy, efficiency, and contamination control in a laboratory environment.

The solution featured:
✅ Peristaltic Pump & Tubing System – Ensuring precise liquid delivery with minimal product waste and a fully autoclavable product path for sterile operations.
✅ Mini Rotary Filler – Offers efficiency over linear fillers by providing a compact footprint, continuous operation, and higher throughput.
✅ Servo Cappers – Allowing full and precise control over the cap application, ensuring correct cap placement, loose capping before freezing, and final tightening to specifications after freezing.
✅ Automated Tray Organization – Once filled and capped, the tubes were systematically arranged in stainless steel trays, optimizing workflow efficiency.
✅ Robotic Arm Handling – A robotic arm was integrated to manipulate and store the tubes vertically in trays, ensuring precise positioning and reducing human intervention.
✅ Dual Matrix Capping Machines – Two Matrix Cap/Decap Systems were implemented to efficiently cap each tube to the required specifications, store them back in trays, and remove them when needed, enhancing reliability and automation.
